Hyundai EON bookings starts today

The country’s second-largest automobile manufacturer, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), will start taking orders for its small car, Eon, from tomorrow, posing a challenge to Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling model, the Alto.
According to industry sources, the car sports an 814-cc engine and is expected to be priced around Rs 2.5 lakh. HMIL did not share technical specifications or pricing points of the car. The Alto is tagged between Rs 2.32 lakh and Rs 3.31 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).


It was the largest selling small car globally last year, recording a sales volume of over 300,000 units.
H W Park, managing director and chief executive officer of HMIL, said, “We are confident the Eon will set a new benchmark in the Indian market with regard to styling, performance, safety and convenience. The car will provide the best-in-class design, quality and technology to our customers.”
“The car is targeted at first-time buyers who want to buy a spacious and stylish car that is high on fuel economy,” the company said in a statement.
The Eon will be manufactured at HMIL’s facility near Chennai.
The car has been developed through concerted efforts of Hyundai’s research and development teams in South Korea and India.


Hyundai EON a globally recognized car, is targeted at the first time buyers in India. Hyundai EON was the largest selling small car globally last year, recording a sales volume of over 3,00,000 units. The entry level car will eye Maruti Alto’s market which is Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling model in India. Hyundai EON will house a 800 cc petrol engine expected to churn out a peak power of 50 Bhp. The car will also give a tough tine to Tata Nano, which is so far the cheapest car in India. Hyundai India has announced that the company is committed to offer products with advanced technology to the Indian market and is confident that the Eon will set a new benchmark in the Indian market with regard to styling, performance, safety and convenience.




H. W. Park, Managing Director and CEO at Hyundai India is extremely confident about EON’s future in India. He said that Eon, which will bear Hyundai's latest design philosophy of ‘fluidic sculpture', has design elements and features that have been specifically developed for Indian conditions. Korean carmaker said that the entry level car, Hyundai EON, will provide the best-in-class design, quality and technology to its customers.  Following the ‘diesel cars in demand’ strategy, Japanese carmaker Nissan has decided to launch a diesel incarnation of its just launched sedan - Nissan Sunny, at the next Indian Auto Expo to be held in January 2012. The Nissan Sunny Diesel price in India will in all probability be around Rs 9-9.5 lakh.  Renault launched the premium SUV Renault Koleos  in India in diesel variant only. Renault Koleos price starts at Rs 22,99 lakh(ex showrom Delhi). Renault Koleos specifications reveal that the SUV is powered with a 1,995cc engine, which can pump a maximum power of 150bhp and a peak torque of 320Nm.

French automaker Renault has slated an aggressive outlook since its break up of ties with homegrown SUV maker Mahindra in India. On May 23, 2011, it launched the flagship sedan Renault Fluence in India and has slated to launch four more cars until 2012 end. The Renault Koleos, an SUV is the second offering by the carmaker in India.

Koleos, a seemingly full-grown SUV is a blend of power delivery, driving pleasure and style. Its relentless 4x4 capabilities are able to take on any terrain. Stunning exteriors and inspiringly comfortable and exceptionally silent interiors is what Renault Koleos promises.

The Renault design team did fairly great efforts to give it a completely new look and the Nissan engineers turned it a lovable machine. Renault Duster low cost SUV to arrive by mid of 2012

Renault is on a car launch spree in India. After introducing Renault Koleos and testing Renault Modus hatchback on the roads of Chennai, Renault Duster is in the news. Renault Duster, specifically an SUV is likely to hit Indian roads by the middle of next year following its launch. After the launch of Koleos at a surprising price of Rs 23 lakh, it is expected that Renault Duster price would be in the ambit of Rs 8-10 lakh. Such pricing can be done to capture Mahindra Scorpio SUV which is a huge hit in India.






The claimed to be low cost SUV Renault Duster in India will be powered by 1.5 litre dCi engine and 1.6 litre petrol engine. Duster will be available in the 4X2 and 4X4 versions. Apart from this, close sources have revealed that Renault aims to make India the exclusive manufacturing and export hub of its SUV- Renault Duster. The company foresees immense opportunities in India-Asia’s third biggest automobile market and the second fastest growing automobile market after China. Renault is most likely to manufacture Duster completely in India and export it to all its right hand car markets globally from here itself. Renault plans to export Duster to UK under the Dacia badge by the end of 2012 with slight cosmetic variations from Indian model. South Africa could be the next export destination as even Mahindra and Mahindra is exporting its SUVs there, although the plan is not yet final.




Ashish Sinharoy, Vice-President (Communications & corporate affairs) at Renault India has reportedly not denied this possibility by saying that the company will definitely look at any opportunity for exporting made-in-India cars to its global network but after focusing on Indian market for the five cars that will be launched between May 2011 and December 2012. If sources are to be believed, this will make Renault the first foreign carmaker in India that exports its SUVs from the country. Till now only Suzuki Motor and Hyundai use their Indian plants for the export of small cars.
